Happy New Year! My New Years Resolutions for 2013

Wow – the holidays have flown by this year. Actually, this whole year has really gone by in the blink of an eye. I feel like the last year of my life has been all about changing for the positive. I quit my job and started a consulting firm. I got married to the love of my life and had a beautiful baby boy. And amongst all of these tangible life changes, I learned a lot about life, love and relationships. What – and who – is important in life versus things {and people} that have no part in our life moving forward. Change. It’s a good thing.

So all last week, I was thinking a lot about New Years Resolutions. The fact is, I don’t usually take these things all that seriously. But this year – what with all the changes my life has undergone – I decided that some broad, life direction resolutions might be in order. I’m not talking about specific “I want to lose fifteen pounds this year” ideas. I’m more interested in reinforcing the incredibly positive direction my life has taken over the course of the last year to keep things rolling into 2013. And with that…my 2013 New Years Resolutions.

I resolve to…

*focus on my family. The last year has been amazing. It’s also been incredibly busy. I need to force myself to take some time to smell the roses – aka enjoy just being around my family without anything to do or anywhere to be.

*be thankful. Ricky and I learned a lot about real friends and family this year. That thing that people say about friends being family? Well, it’s true. And we really need to spend more time appreciating and being thankful for all of the positive influences in our life.

*follow my happy. Ricky has a saying that I love: “follow what makes you happy”. Work wise, family wise, life wise, I want to spend more time doing the things that make us happy and less time worrying about everything else.

*I also updated my bucket list. Just for funsies.

Happy 2013 friends! I hope this year brings you all of the happiness you’re looking for. Cheers!
